Restaurant reviews: The Hard Rock Cafe

I have to admit it, I’m a Hard Rock junkie. If a city has a Hard Rock you will find me there. I have visited the original in London several times and we sport our tee shirts like badges of honor. When we lost all our clothes in a house fire it was my Hard Rock tee shirt that I missed the most.

One of our most amusing Paris adventures has the Hard Rock at it’s center. I was determined to find the Hard Rock Paris. I stopped two police officers and asked them, in French mind you if they knew where the Hard Rock Cafe was, they looked at me blankly and told me to call information. I entered a phone booth and did just that, evidently my French doesn’t translate on the phone because the operator told me she would get their English speaking operator for me. In English I asked can you tell me the phone number of the Hard Rock Cafe, her answer over and over was I don’t understand, I don’t understand. I guess that is all the English she knows. Luckily I came across a billboard with the address.

We have been to the Hard Rock in Montreal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Los Angeles, Washington DC and I am sure there are many that I have forgotten.

Why are we Hard Rock junkies. Because we always have a good time when we go there. the employees always seem to be having a good time. On more than one occasion we have been serenaded by both the staff and our fellow guests. When we are in Europe it is nice to go to a restaurant where there have good old fashioned American iced tea and coffee and hamburgers that taste like what we are used to. I am a very adventurous eater but it’s always nice to get a taste of home.

We also enjoy checking out the cases of memorabilia that are located everywhere that you look. You never know what gem you are going to see. If you are visiting with children this is the perfect place. Lets face it, Hard Rock Cafe is not a quiet place. Your kids can yell their brains out and no one will even hear or notice. The music blares so if you have a hearing aid this will not be a good choice.

One year we visited on Elvis’ birthday and they and a special menu that included pork chops that we really enjoyed. I don’t know if this happens at every location or if it happens very year but it was a nice surprise.
